I've installed PS CS3 on my HP Dv2699eo and it's running extremely slow.
Can someone please tell me why?

    OS:
    Microsoft Vista Home Premium

    Hardware Spec:
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz T7250
    Nvidia 8400GS
    Unknown 2GB RAM 667
    Seagate 160GB 5400

    Thanks in advance

It might be vista aero but having other programs running while using it might cause a slowdown.

It doesn't seem to be using up too much memory/cpu so i'm not sure what the problem may be.

does it happen when you open a file ?
maybe the partition marked as photoshop scratch disk is full ?

i do remember a bad installation of photoshop in our university, where the complete photoshop cs2 had to be removed and reinstalled. whenever you opened a small jpg file(100kb) photoshop did excessivly occupy the ram and used nearly nearly one gig of ram. ram usage should not have been higher than 500mb as we set this option in photoshop preferences. was very strange then......

My datadrive is the scratch disk and there is plenty space. I'v also adjusted PS to use 1GB of RAM.

It's lagging when I'm zooming in/out and even when i select a new tool it does it.

Well I think I'm gonna try reinstall

Did you do a clean install of Windows? I don't know how HP is on 3rd party software but it may be slowing you down

Yes I'm on a clean install. That was the first thing I did when I received the notebook :)
