I just bought a Toshiba M30 notebook. Since I will be bringing it to school often, I want it to be passowrd protecte, just in case. Is a standard Windows password (made in the User Accounts) adequate, or can it be easily hacked? If so, is there any other way to make a secure password for Windows?
Thanks

The Windows password should be OK, but you may also want to set your notebook up to lock the system as well. This will make you system ask for a password when the unit is rebooted or powered on.
Just go into the BIOS (press & hold ESC while you turn on the notebook) and put in an Admin/User Password. Don't forget the password, you won't be able to get back in without paying Toshiba to remove it for you.

Like venom siad, enable the BIOS passwords and what ever security Toshiba gives to work with. If only the windows password is used, anyone who steals your notebook will have a very easy time of just re-installing XP and off they go with their new notebook.
You want to make it as hard as possible for anyone who rips you off.

Keep in mind if you're real concened about this, you could pick up a USB biometric scanner that requires one of your fingers to grant access to the machine.
