    Hi,

How to recall the forgotten password? I forgot the password to my windows in T400.

I was using finger print reader from the very first day & never ever used password after configuring it initially.

Recently I decided to refresh my finger prints & deleted all "without" realizing that making new finger prints will ask for password again.

    What to do?

What version do you have, Windows XP or Vista? I have Vista and when you are setting up a password, it asks you to supply a password hint. So if you forget or accidentally type the wrong password, it shows you the hint. I can't remember what happens in XP.

So if you are using Vista, just type anything and the hint will show up. Keep in mind, this will only work if you have provided a hint and it is something that will jog your memory.

I know this is not legal.

But I am left with no choice except to ask experts.

I am a home user & I can assure you that i am facing a genuine & fair problem.

Using vista. It gives me a hint. I usually keep all my passwords with combination of either my son's name or daughter's name. Tried many many times. Various combinations. But no luck.

I purchased my laptop in June 2008. Configured password & finger prints at that time. After that I never used passwd option for login purposes.

Now recently due to my stupidity, I decided to refresh my finger prints without realizing that making new finger prints after deleting will ask for passwd again!

do you only have one account on the machine with admin privileges? One thing I've learned from work is to always create and use a secondary admin account, really helps in troubleshooting (or events like this!). I leave the primary one pretty much untouched, I use it only for troubleshooting.

I don't think you could have purchased a T400 in June of 2008. (PM me if I am wrong).
    Good advice.
