Hi,
What is the optimum page file size for a computer running 512MB of RAM??
Cause I saw a window pop up this morning that said "The portion of your virtual memory relogated to your page-file is not enough. Windows is fixing this error". What should I do? Is there any way I can tweak the page file size to make my machine run better?

Do you know what programs you were running when this happend?

You'll hear many things about 1.5X physical RAM or even 2.5X. I think if you let Windows manage it you'll be fine. When you get into the higher levels (1-2-4gb) Windows tends to overkill with the pagefile. It's pretty good with the 512 though.

I think I was running only two or three apps, but there are tons of "background" applications and processes when I look in Windows Task Manager.
I switched it to "Let system manage the pagefile." Hopefully that will work.

ttupa has the good recommendation
unless u r grapping for disk space, i recommend either min&max = 1.5xRAM or just leave it to XP, it is much better at allocating pagefile . & please, do not believe the myth that because u have a large pagefile, windows will not use available ram first
cheers ...
