    Hey everyone,
Im having a bit of trouble locating some things from outlook express; like the emails and the address book.

This was all on my moms computer. Her motherboard fried so i hooked the HDD as a slave onto my old comp to retrieve some files for her.
However now that im looking for these things i cant find them.
Also, if i start OE it loads with nothing, no address book or emails.

Is it possible i erased all the data from OE somehow??? all the other things are still there.

My emails are located in C:\Documents and Settings\Simon\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{31391EF3-B3AC-4F12-94D8-DC2DA45E9526}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

You'll have to set the folder show hidden files and folders.

    And my contacts are "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\wab.exe"

    Hopefully thats some help.

    Thanks for the help,
I looked for the wab.exe and i found it before, but its empty. Theres no contacts, while there are supposed to be close to 100 in there.
The emails are also not there, im really not sure what is wrong. None of the other data is missing or damaged.

For email in Outlook Express, do a search for files with extension .dbx (make sure search includes hidden files and folders).

For address book, do a search for files with .wab extension (likewise include hidden files and folders). It's usually saved as (profile name).wab where (profile name) is the user name the person logs in with.

I went straight to Application Data instead of going through local settings, thats why i could not find the files! x.x!
Thanks for the help, wish i could read right.

Thanks a lot. I found the address book and found the emails through searching for the extension.
Thanks for all the input everyone, :notworthy: you just saved us tons of work and problems.
