I recently switched to foxit reader for viewing pdf.

Earlier (with Adobe reader) for pdf links on web sites, I used to view pdf inside browser window in firefox.

Now pdf opens in foxit reader. Is it because Adobe comes with browser plugin and Foxit doesn't. Is there any addon to achieve this ?

    Thanks !!

You need foxit pdf plugin. Apparently it's not supported officially, you can find more info and the plugin here http://www.pdfdownload.org/faq.php

I tried it a while ago but couldn't get it to work on Vista. It requires manual patching and the files are quite dated.

Now I just open pdf with foxit reader externally, it loads up pretty damn fast anyway.

note (at the bottom of the page):
"Before you can use the PDFReader plugin you must download the program
and copy all files to the plugin/files directory."

    try this:
. download the pdfreader from foxit site as above
. unzip the file into firefox/plugins directory
    . download the pdf plugin ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/636 )
. install it and restart firefox

now each time that u click on a link that is a pdf link, u will have the choice of download it, open it, view as html (this is what u want) or bypass pdf download (quicker step if u have plenty of memory) or cancel

and yes, it works for me

    cheers ...

I must be doing something really stupid that's not working for me :(

Anyhow, I figured another way to do it. You need the IE tab addon for firefox, and you can find it here if you don't have it already https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

Basically with foxit pdf reader, you can open pdf documents within Internet Explorer by default.

This is how it works. When you open a pdf, you either switch the current tab into an IE tab using the said addon before opening the pdf document, or alternatively right click the pdf link and "open link in IE tab".

The pdf document should be open in a firefox tab.
