Does anyone have any recommendations on whether to keep both or to just upgrade completely to 2007? I have a lot of class notes in Word 2003 and I just upgraded to Vista and so long as everything will open and work like normal, I will just upgrade to 2007. However, I just wanted to see if anyone was having problems opening Word 2003 documents or if Word 2007 is "buggy".

    Thanks.

As long as you don't mind Ribbon, office 2007 is great

In the options menu in Word 2007, you can make it save in Word 2003 format as default. I personally do not have Word 2007, but a coworker of mine does and he loves it. As far as I know, Word 2007 has no problem opening and editing Word 2003 documents.

IMO, office 2007 is much better than 2003. Also, there will be no problem opening 2003 doc in 2007 office and vice versa.

If you save a file in the Office 2007 native extension, .docx, the people who try to open it on Office 97-2003 will need a converter. The converter is free and will automatically prompt to download upon trying to open the file.

As always with office, the newer version is backwards compatible, but the older version is not always forward compatible. but like the others said u can always save a document in 2007 as a 2003 document in order to view it on older versions.

I still use Office 2000. I never saw a reason to upgrade then and I still do not see a reason to upgrade now. Wait a minute, my school says Office 2007 is mandatory. I guess I will buy Office 2007.

And those of us who care about accessing their data in the future use ODF compliant editors, like OpenOffice.org, which can export a pretty serviceable .DOC file, and exports PDF's natively ;)

I've been using Office 2007 since January and I love it. I am more productive using it versus OpenOffice (which I used previously) or previous versions of Office. And of course the user interface is very attractive. I have not encountered any problems with Office 2007 yet. I'd say it is safe to get rid of Office 2003 if you have 2007 installed.

Have been using Office 2007 here too. I choose small business edition (the ultimate version is too expensive). So far there have been no problem at all.

I think Office 2007 in Vista launch faster than Office 2003 in XP, IMO.

I have Office 2007. Love the program except the ribbons which takes a lot of real estate and there's no webcam option for Outlook.
