I am browsing this forum with my latest toy: Google Chrome! Blazing fast! Fast notebooks need a fast browser, bet it's worth 1G upgrade or at least the Intel HD cache card :D

We have a wordfilter here since no one wants to read you typing in all caps.

And chrome is based on WebKit... so unless you think that Safari (another browser that is based on WebKit, and Apple's version of Internet Exploder) is faster than Firefox... your eyes have played tricks on you. Everyone thinks it will be awesome because google makes it, but guess what? It's going to be like google talk, and it's going to suck and no one will use it. Trade secret, you heard it here first.

Don't claim that no one uses google talk. All of my contacts have a gmail account, and thus are able to use gtalk, and we all have used it at one point or another to IM each other, many times in favor of more popular services like AIM.

Didn't know about the word filter. I guess I'll bold it next time.
Was Internet Exploder an intentional typo? Either way, it's funny.

Chrome is obvious faster than FireFox(even when tweaked) .... and I think it's equal or slightly faster than opera.

i read in the new york times that its java script is 10x better then everything else. Also read its faster then ie and opera but nowhere close to ff. I dled to my gf's computer and it seems pretty simple. Im gonna be honest, I think ill use it for phorn.

I don't see the advantage to Chrome. With no extensions, no adblock, lots of disadvantages compared to other browsers... it's got a lot of work if they want it mainstreamed beyond being yet another pre-install on Dells and HPs.

And yeah, some people use GTalk, but it was proclaimed to be the AIM killer and such, came out... nope.

I hope it doesn't end up like Google Talk. The client for that has NEVER been updated. One not small reason why hardly anybody uses it. People use the protocol through gmail (which doesn't support file transfers and various other basic functions of IM) or a third-party thing like Digsby.

Personally i think Chrome is typical google hype. I like google and their web apps, and open source and having another standards-compliant browser is lovely from a dev perspective, but the browser itself is merely interesting, not compelling. Firefox is very fast and feature-rich as required via add-ons. Chrome looks ugly (at least on my windows theme that it doesn't support) and doesn't add anything of note for me.

Especially when FF 3.1 is released with the new JS engine, there will be very little argument left for me to make Chrome more than a google pet project and fad, imho.

Chrome looks like IE7 with most of the toolbar options unchecked.

I'm surprised that they didn't include a Gmail Plugin. That should have been the first thing that's noticeable.

I doubt any browser will beat FireFox anytime soon.

My biggest gripe is that there's no smooth scrolling option (for scroll wheel and arrow keys).
    Also no Flashblock, etc. yet.

I like it, simple and fast. It would be nice to have an 'Open All in Tabs' at the bottom of bookmark folders like FF.

No Google toolbar, or Gmail plugin. I'm thinking Chrome will top FF once it gets some more features under it's belt.

Why do you say that? Asking for technical reasons, because it sounds to me more like you're just buying into google's hype.

Yes, I am partly buying into their hype. The only reason (I think) why Chrome isn't more popular than FF right now is because it just came out and has a lack of features, that's almost always what people complain about.

So no technical reasons then? I don't care if a majority of people start using it, that doesn't make it good, that makes them stupid. Most people use IE not FF or Opera, two vastly superior browsers, and the same goes for them.
