I will be purchasing a Dell E1505, And will be reformating the HD, and reinstalling Windows XP Pro. Looking at Newegg i see the deals for OEM discs for like $1xx dollars, compared to a full version thats like $3xx. Now, people have been sayin that these do not come with cd-keys. If this is true do you use the CD-key sticker on your labtop as the serial?

you will not be prompted to enter a key during the install; that's one thing that makes it "OEM". another is that you can't get support from microsoft on OEM versions.

You still get a key with it - but as drumfu said, I don't think you have to enter it. I purchased XP home OEM, and it came with the key.

Unless it's a branded OEM disk, you should be asked for a key. I have an OEM copy of XP Pro on my desktop and I always have to enter the key. It is illegal for someone to sell you a copy of XP and not provide the key. There are limitations on what you can do with an OEM version of XP, and there are almost as many threads on this forum about it.

Make sure its not a branded OEM disk. These can only be installed on that brand.
