A friend of mine is filming something, and tapped me to set up the computers for one scene. For this, I need to find something to put on the computer screens that will appear active and code like -- like the generic and meaningless "computer doing something technical" sequences in many films, or something similar to the ubiquitous Matrix code (though the code itself, of which emulations are readily available, won't do as it's too recognizable).

Does anybody have any ideas? Ideally I'd like something that is free to download, and that will fill the entire screen as well -- thought this latter isn't essential. Thanks for any suggestions.

my colleague created a simple screensaver some time ago - slideshow, but pretty nice... computer being infected with AV2009, with the user willingly helping and clicking and clicking and totally messing their computer. by chance, would you like something like that? :D

Hmm... Is your friend filming for 24 :D
    1st I recommend using camstudio(google.com)
2nd Download some themes for your operating system that will change the look.
3rd. Use camstudio to record yourself doing whatever your friend wants you to do ;)

    Thanks for the ideas guys.

To clarify, I'm mainly looking for something that looks like code or numerical output. All text is fine, it needn't be very flashy so long as it looks like the computer is busily processing something without revealing just what.

    +1. Excellent suggestion.
It's free, download and burn it, boot from it and you can have a screen that not only looks real but even will be recognized as real/credible.
