I've used Norton Anti-Virus and System works for years. But beginning with the 2004 editions the computers, notebook and desktop seem to have taken a huge performance hit. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? If so, what product would everyone reccomend?

    Thanks - Chris

Your right, the norton AV and system works suites use a lot of the CPU's horsepower and can really bog things down, that's why I stopped using it. What I use now is Panda's Platinum 7 AV and firewall(dumped zonealarm for the same reason). I really like their AV, it seems to find ton's of stuff that norton passed right over and the drag on system resources is minimal. They have updates to their virus definitions several times per day and because they are based in Spain their guys are get the fixes to most viruses before the all the USA AV companies open for the day, or so it seems. They are not so famous here in the USA, but worldwide they very well respected.
They also have a free online scanner and 30 free trial period.
As long as they continue to provide this great product, I'll be a loyal customer.

Bootleg, are you saying that Zone Alarm (Free Version) slows down computers?
If so, in what way does it slow it down, and what other free alternatives would you suggest?
