Recently my cat yanked my Toshiba laptop off my coffee table by the power cord. The computer looked fine except the power cord/connection was a little bent. Now I try to do Norton 360 Backup and when it goes to write to the first disc it gives me a popup that tells me the disk cannot be written to, the disk is either incompatible, disk drive is malfunctioning, etc.

I've verified that the DVD-RWs by Imation that I've been using for 6 months can be formatted. Files can be copied to them and erased from them. I've put one with previous backup discs in it and could read it just fine. I just can't do more backups now.

    Help?

    Hi EricinGA,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your post about Norton 360.

There are a few things that may cause the problem you describe. The first thing to do is to manually run LiveUpdate to make sure you have the latest program and definition patches applied and to then run a "Comprehensive Scan" with Norton 360.

Another possibility is that the drivers for your optical drive have become corrupted. Please check the manufactures website for the latest driver for your computer.

Sometimes a backup job that you create can become corrupted. Delete the backup set you created and then recreate it.

    Thanks,
    Mike
