I currently have XP installed and plan to get Vista installed on a different partition. When I press the power button is it correct that I get to choose which Partition I want to boot from, or will I have to hit some crazy combination of buttons.

Dual boot with XP in Vista is about as simple as it gets. It has a bootloader that lets you choose between your 2 OSes, no crazy keystrokes necessary.
