I just ordered my express upgrade at http://www.dellvistaupgrade.com/ and it says:
Product is not expected to begin shipping until February 2007 at the earliest.
Microsoft still says January...hmmm

It releases January 31st, so that means no one will get it until at least the first week of February. Maybe if you went through Dells express upgrade you might get it February 1.

The express upgrade is not the same as "Retail Vista". The retail Vista date is still January 30. Express upgrade customers will receive special kits from their system manufacturers that include the Vista disc and a drivers/software disc. If they are able to get all the drivers and software ready and the discs pressed, then your kit may ship shortly after launch (ie. early February). If not, then March is likely. It sucks, but realize Dell (and other companies) efforts are going to be on trying to prepare and sell new systems with Vista preinstalled, not providing the free upgrade for customers whose money they already have.
No Retail Vista until February...
