After a bit of a break from the Tweaks thread, I ran through the numerous suggestions and elected to add a few. I thank everyone for all the suggestions and hope they keep coming!!

Specifically you will find a tweak added which fixes a problem many are having with Vista, this being the internet confirmation time. For many, their system boots and then seems to hang for a bit while the internet connection is confirmed. I have encountered this with one of my systems and posted regarding it with no luck.

Well, we have finally found the answer and its numbered as Tweak 4 on the thread.

The other tweak (16) replaces a former program which had the ability to cut your boot time in half. The new program, AutoTweakMZ still does exactly that but adds some very powerful automatic tweaks which you will notice immediately on reboot of your system. It has the same powerful defrag ability as the former. I have used this on several systems in the past few months and have been very impressed with the results.

Finally, under that same tweak, I included a file attachment put together by ScuderiaConchiglia. This can be used in place of AutoMZ if you just want the defrag ability but not the tweaks. He had taken the time to examine the former program and extract just the defragmentation commands. He subsequently created the batch file which can be downloaded and utilized.

Once again...Thanks all!!! and the tweaks can be found by clicking 'Top Vista Tweaks' in my signature block below.

I got my m1330 yesterday so after playing with it for awhile I decided to follow your tweak guide which I think is really helpful but I did notice that after I changed the registry to cut down shutdown time , as soon as I click shutdown the screen goes black immediately, no log off or anything and it takes more than 20 seconds, when I changed the registry to 10000... any help would be great.

sweet. so does this mean everytime we do a defrag, we won't have to run the program again in order to obtain a quick boot?

This is pretty a useless thread.
You could just post an update in the other thread.

Why don't you just log in with a different account, or try safe mode?

There is only one account apparently. Windows boots up to straight to the login screen where it asks for your password; no alternate user choices. Safe mode does the exact same thing - stuck at login page, just the screen looks different b/c of safe mode.

I have been Googling about cracking Vista PW's but it seems difficult and over my head... I'm afraid, at the moment, that a new install may be the only option...

Needless to say, I CANNOT recommend this software, heh.

You should rerun my batch file any time you add or update a driver, or add or update a service or application that startup at boot time.
