    Hey all,

I finally got my new notebook, an HP 6000t and I love it. But I had heard that it is smart to create multiple user accounts to help keep the computer safe.

Can anyone recommend what I need to change in settings to help secure my computer. I mostly use my main login to use MS office, minor web surfing, and playing Blizzard games. I have Vista Home Premium os if that makes any difference.

    Thanks a lot everyone.

    Dan

Dan, I'm going to move this to the Windows Software forum, I believe you will get more replies there.

From my experience it is probably best to create a new account. Give your main "Administrator" account a password, and just let it sit until you need it. You don't need lots, just one for yourself that is not the Administrator account. (note: your user can have the role of "Computer Administrator")

You can always use the Administrator account in Safe mode to remove virii or other infections, or to troubleshoot issues with the computer.

To keep my comp safe I open accounts with certain previledges only. Keep your account private to other users also. I don't have separate Admininstrative account due to I'm mainly the user. You have to log in as Administrative when loading programs then log in separately to your account is a pain. Have a guest account if someone wants to use it temporarily with limited access.
