I ordered a new computer for my daughter for Christmas. The specs are listed below. The delivery date is not allowing me much time to buy software. The seller says that the only preloaded software is what it takes to run the hardware. I have never bought a computer that did not come with preloaded software. It is a Quanta.

Will it have some type program to burn DVD's and CD's? What comes with XP Prof? Does it include IE or any email software? I know I will need a word proccessor. I assume I will need an anti-virus and a spy ware.

I know these are base level questions and I apologize for being so ignorant about this. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated. I need this to be useable for her on X-mas day. I won't have much time to play with it to see what it is lacking.

    dmj4,

If it includes a burner then yes it should have some kind of burning software. I am not saying it is going to be good, but it will have one.

Yes, it will include IE and Outlook Express for e-mail. It will also come with anti-virus or at least a free trial. If you are looking for a good one it will have to be Norton Anti-virus (pretty good program).

I also believe it will come with Microsoft Word for the word processing program.

    Hope this helps.
