I thought I would avoid the few issues I had in windows media center by using x86 vista instead of x64 for my htpc (so I could use 32bit codecs)

    Well yes and no..

So far all of my files have played in WMC without fail.

I have a handfull of issues still.

Thumbnails: I read that if you cant see a thumbnail for a video or file that means WMC cant play it and you need the right codec. Well not true I have the codec installed (FFDSHOW) and all of them play but not but one or two of my videos so far have a thumbnail image.

So anybody know a way to get them?

Subtitles: This one really bugs me, Im getting all my anime off my dvds from back in the day and I watch 99% of my anime in Japanese. The ones where the subs are hardcoded as part of the video are ok.

The main thing I was looking forward to watching was DBZ, I am so tired of the spongebob reruns and stuff that I watch with my sons every morning, its time to watch some real cartoons! :p

So ANY media player the DBZ subs work, they are not an external file they are embeded. WMC though no matter what I have tried the subs will not show up. I even looked at FFDSHOW running while WMC plays the file so I know its using the codec. Its a real mystery.

I tried to fix it with a plugin called media control, its supposed to let you swap audio tracks, subtitles, things like that but its not working.

Last is audio tracks. Same deal some of my anime has dual audio and its defaulting to the horrible English tracks.... even with the plugin I cant swap audio tracks.

Loddoss War is the first one, its not a separate audio stream per say. Media Player Classic only shows one audio stream, but under the Audio --> Language dialog you can make it Japanese.

I cant believe something that is supposed to be Microsofts Baby has so many issues. I guess I will have to bust out the keyboard & mouse and play my fles in Media Player Classic and the family can still get the "real" WMC experience with the remote and play the regular movies on there since they will not need subs or audio change.
