I have a HP dv6000 and ran a few updates from the HP website and now I can't get into my OS. I hope I don't need to do a fresh install because I have study materials installed that will only allow me to install a certain number of times and it would be devastating to lose them or have to pay to activate them again.

The updates that I installed are from here

    and are
-video card update for my nvidia graphics card
    - quicklaunch update
    - the essential system update for vista
    - the critical security update

I installed vista on an empty partition of my hard disk and now I can get on here but I NEED to fix my primariy install of vista to get my work back.

Is there a way I can uninstall the updates from this partition? I tried to get into the primary vista install after I installed this one and it's the same thing. bad pool caller. Please help.

Press F8 at bootup, go into safe mode... uninstall the updates you think are causing the problem. Or better yet, do a system restore.

I really wish it was that easy.

Safe mode does the same thing and will not allow me to go into the computer and unfortunately for me, there are not any system restore points set on my computer. Now I know

Is there any way that I can start my computer with my good install and then run the primary install simultaneously so I can uninstall what the problem is?

Or could I check the registry to find out the problem and fix it?
