I am doing for the first time an in-depth On-Demand Scanner by NOD32 and for the first several files it searched it reports "error opening - Fie Locked"
e.g., C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat.LOG - error opening (File locked) [4
They are all in documents ans settings, about 1/3 Administrator, 1/3 Local Service and 1/3 Network Service (like the one above.)
They all end in user.dat (like above) or user.log.
Is this a problem? I don't think so but if anyone can explain I would love to learn.

No, it's not a problem. Those are password protected files or swap files, which usually can't be infected.
Here's a great link I found regarding locked files.

And here's another link about NOD32. It's full of great information.

Also if you scan from safe-mode, there likely won't be as many locked files.

You asked this same question last June...
See my response from then.

Well, my only excuse was that was the time I was in the midst of being diagnosed as potentially having cancer. (Isn't that one hell of an excuse....!!!!) I had several other medical/dental problems over the last 14 months, including 12 surgeries, etc. And my weaknesses made me susceptible to about every bug that swept through this country since last October which kept me extremely sick on top of that...So I have been having an extremely hard time keeping my head above water, personally & professionally, let alone keeping track of everything I did.
But it is mostly over now (I have been well for about a month), I do not have cancer, they caught it in time before it turned into cancer and almost all the oral surgeries are finished as well (nothing to do with the cancer scare.)
So I am about to get back into great shape and get my computers into great shape for the first time.
I was wondering how it was that I had not done this NOD32 scan before, as it is pretty obvious.
At least I am consistent... -
Well i'm sure I speak for many when I say i'm glad that both you and your computer are healthy now.
Stay well!
