I think most free forum providers are going to have ads on them , basically it's there way of making money for providing you with the service. If you want to go this way just google free forum or something similar.

Setting up a database then installing is easy. I'll help you through the steps, (if you have trouble, just post) i'm going to do this using smf as i've done a couple of smf instalations before.

Firstly, you need to set the database up, you can't install your forum software without it.

    Creating database

    1. Go to your control panel in FreeHyperSpace, then go to CreateD/Delete my sql database.

    2. Create your database name, in this instance wizard213_smf, click create database.

    3. Create your username, and password. click create user.

(Keep your database name and user details as you will need these for smf instalation).

    4. You will then come to assign privileges, hopefully the username and database you have created will appear in 2 drop down boxes (If not then select them in the drop down boxes). Then click assign assign privileges. You've now created your database :)

    Installing SMF

    1. Go to your control panel and click on application installer.

    2. type the directory name you want to install your forum in (this will be created).

    3. Click the board you want (I used smf in the past as i find it very easy to use) Then click install.

    4. You will first see the basic settings, You need to type in the name of your board, I would then leave the rest alone, the box below the name of your board will give you the url of your forum.

    5. MySql server settings. Leave the first and last sections. You then fill in your username and password you just created, then you need to type in your database name (wizard213_smf, as above in the creating database section).

    6. Then click proceed (if you come up with a red error message on the next page something you have typed in is incorrect, go back and repeat section 5).

    7. You now need to put in your username and password for the forum (obviously you will be the administrator), and your email address. Then you need to put in your database password.

    8. Now the forum is installed, be sure to tick the box Click here to delete install.php, if not this creates a security risk.

    9. Hey presto, you've just created your forum. Well done!!!!

To set-up your basic forum boards, click on the admin button then click manage boards under forum controls.

If you have any issues or can't set it up, i'll be more than happy to help you or create it for you.

www.simplemachines.org. This is the smf homepage where you can get support once set-up, there are loads of mods and skins there to. Skins are real easy to install. Just download the skin you want to your hdd, then in your smf admin section, go to Theme and Layout Settings under Forum configuration, then go to the install a new theme section, then upload your file.

Alternatively, you could try SMF For Free ( http://smfforfree.com/) which will host a Simple Machines Forum (SMF) for free without any ads. I've used it and I can vouch for it.
