    why is it that when my computer starts up and when it's connected to the internet through my wireless router that a lot of my programs will hang for a couple of minutes after i click them to start 'em and it only happens when i'm connected to the internet?

    512mb ram

    I had the same problem when I had Norton Internet Security installed. I switched to PC-cillian, and everything starts up much faster now.

    ok i did have that but i got rid of it before this because i liked mcafee better.

    Does this happen the whole time you are on the internet? or just for a few minutes after you boot up your pc?
