Anyone know if Windows 7 will have said feature, as Mac OS X has in Spaces and stuff?

Good question. I tried to install the XP Powertoy for Multiple Desktops, but even after resolving a host of compatibility problems to get it to run, it gave me an error that it won't run on any version of Windows earlier or later than XP. So at this point it looks like we're out of luck for a Microsoft solution.

On the plus side, the troubleshooters were useful in fixing the initial problems, which Compatibility Mode alone didn't fix. Much better than I've ever seen before in Windows. Ironically, the problem had to do with the Customer Experience Improvement Program.

Seems like all the XP Powertoys check for version and don't work on Win7. Too bad. There were several of them that were rather useful and still aren't replicated in later versions. I'm surprised they never released an equivalent for Vista, really, at least as an Ultimate Extra.

Then again, even when I using Ubuntu that has a lot of the similar "features" that OSX has...I almost NEVER EVER used other spaces. Its supposed to help you in multitasking...but honestly, I don't think that claim is too valid. Especially now that I have two monitors on my desk, no need for spaces here.

I never use virtual desktops, ever.
