Okay guys, this post is going to be straight to the point,

Is there a way to customize the Firefox bookmark-toolbar and the buttons above (Back,Forward,Reload...) to get a more streamlined look a la Safari 4?

Pretty sure I saw a Safari theme while browsing for Firefox addons. Go to Tools >> Add-ons and do a search for Safari.

Yes, there are one or two themes which are compatible with Windows but only the one which is MAC OS X only delivers a satisifying interface, so i was hoping that there is some sort of a manual way to customize Firefox ...

yes - i tried safari 4 , its interface is superb, but firefox is just the better browser for me. The two main disadvantages are that safari obviously cannot use the firefox extensions and that it requires a more powerful pc to get a fluent experience

I'm running firefox on a 4 year old laptop, not everybody has the fortune of dual core power ;)

try asking in the mozilla forums... all the mozilla apps are extremely customizeable if you know where to look and what to change in their massive config files.
