What's the best way to do this? I'm ordering a laptop with Fista soon and my old one has Windows XP SP2. What's the best way to transfer Data? Do I have to burn a crapload of DVDs? Or can I do it by wireless network somehow? I have no hub.

You can deifinitely do it through your home network, just make sharing active in your source laptop and from the target laptop go grab what you need and drop it on your new laptop.

I hear Fista is a really new OS so it might be hard to find support for it right now..

I assume you mean Vista. You can buy Belkin transfer cable. Or if you have external HD, back it up there. By Wireless Network, should works if both computer are connected to the same wireless network. You can share the folder using Windows, or use a program like Radmin/UltraVNC to do the file transfer. Writing Vista as Fista is nowhere as great as Windows Ubuntu XP.

As long as you have file sharing turned on for both laptops you should be able to drag anything you want to transfer into that sharing folder. Then simply wirelessly transfer anything you want. Hope this helps!

Actually its the easiest to use Vista..

When u open your new laptop ..type this in the search bar: "Easy Transfer"

a program will come up which allows u to import everything from your old laptop to new laptop.

U can use Hardisk, Network or Cable to transfer it then.

Are you insinuating that "Easy transfer" won't work from XP to Vista?
