I have a retail version of Microsoft Office 2007 installed on my PC and my laptop. I will be getting a new laptop shortly and I would like to know if I can move office over to my new laptop. I ask because you only get two licences for office 2007, but would like it on my new laptop. I plan on formatting the old laptop so it wont be on there any more. Does any know about this? I cant really find any relevant information on the net about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The retail license should allow you to install the package on 2 personal systems(read through the EULA to be sure). Next, just uninstall the software from the old laptop and install it on the new one. If it fails online activation you just call Microsoft to activate it over the phone. They will ask you a couple of questions like if its the first time activating the software and how many computers you have installed the software on and why you are activating and then the rep should give you a long code to type in the activation window which should immediately activate the software for you.

Might need to call MS as miner said. I think this should be done automatically online if you uninstall a program. I went through this with my Vista Ult 64 Uprgrade disk (retail) and ending up getting a refund from MS as my new computer had no OS.

Why didn't your new computer have an OS Zoid? Sounds like something you should take up with the manufacturer.

I ordered it without an OS. Even though I owned an OEM copy of XP, I couldn't use the Vista Ult Upgrade because the OEM XP didn't come with my new computer. Whew! But MS refunded me in full, I bought Vista HP 32 for now.

Why did you buy another copy of vista???

You could have just used the upgrade DVD to do a clean install...

No kidding, that's what I told MS on the phone, but they solved it for me. Got a check in the mail for more than I paid for it, because I bought it at Costco, and they refunded normal retail (I didn't have the receipt)

That's what I did on my old notebook. On the OS'less new notebook, it couldn't detect that I owned a copy of XP, and wouldn't recognize the OEM disk.
