This is weird, I dunno if it's only in Windows 7 as I can't recally this situation happen before......but here's the deal.......

If I copy a file over to another computer on the network, the mouse will become really jerky in its movement. Only when the transfer of the file finishes does the motion smoothness get restored.

The strange thing is though, the built in notebook touchpad will never become jerk, it's always smooth as silk, so I'm guessing it might be the driver of the mouse?

My mouse is teh Log!tech VX Revolution Wireless Laser Mouse FTW

    I am using SetPoint 4.80 (64-Bit) drivers

Maybe it's the activity that the computer is performing that is causing it. I know that when my McAfee installation updates pop up on my desktop, it completely freezes for a second.

Anyway, try uninstalling and reinstalling Setpoint, and try using the mouse when Setpoint isn't installed.

Check your BIOS settings. That sounds like an interrupt sharing issue, where the USB and Network controllers are sharing the same IRQ.

Wow, that's pretty extreme. I mean, a problem that could be solved by some simple tweaking?

Could it be something with the wireless. I have a stuttering audio when browsing internet on wireless connection. After a few hours it gets really annoying and I have to restart and then it's all back in normal.

What's your CPU usage when it's happening? Mine gets up to like 80%.

I figured out the problem. a format was not neccessary as even after I formatted I had the problem :(

What you need to do is:

    1) Open the Logitech Settings
    2) Go to mouse pointer settings
    3) Choose OS Implementation rather than Logitech Implementation for the mouse Movement.

    Tada! problem fixed

    Nothing like reading the manuals.

And why would anyone format/install to try and solve a mouse response problem?

You're a man with alot of time on your hands MaXimus.

While reading your post # 3 I thought to myself. "A format, that's a little extreme....and even with that, that might not solve this problem. This could be an issue with the CPU being overloaded during the copying or just bad mouse driver...."

And I sroll down to read your post # 7 and the issue was still there. LOL

Anyway...you solved the issue. Kudos for that!

I got a mouse problem as well
My mouse "freezes" for few seconds every so often, i got a Logitech G5 so when it freezes lights on it reset as if it disconnects for a second, thing is if i plug in a cheap low power dell mouse, it works fine
I think my problem is with USB drivers however i never had this problem in Vista
I run win7 x64, any suggestions ? How do you check IRQ conflicts?

I'm with you on this one. Scorched earth is a bit excessive. Formatting is boring too. Years ago, it was fun. But now it is a snore. I just want to get things done.

Try what I did, uninstall the Logitech Drivers completely, and just use the Windows bundled driver! works much much better

Can you also set key presses and other nonstandard uses for the keys present on a Logitech Mouse?

I have the MX performance Mouse and use SetPoint x64 with no problems at all.

You can't set customized key sets.

But by default, the BACK / FORWARD buttons on my Mouse perform that function in folders / internet browsers. The search button automatically takes you to search like it's supposed to. the mouse wheel works both vertically and horizontally. So the only thing you miss is the customized settings of the mouse which I can do without until a newer version of SetPoint is released. Trust me on this! it's much better and the mouse will become super responsive and the mouse precision will be enhanced.

I don't like touching the keyboard with the right hand when I use the mouse.

I have set the back/ forward keys to one of them do Enter action to minimize and maximize player window for watching movies and to Ctrl+Enter to enter passwords remembered by my internet browser - Opera.

Saves a lot of time with such a tiny improvement.

    I have one too.

The one that came with my TouchSmart however is big, like a normal TV remote and it is not very nice to hold it all the time. Previously I had the 20" HDX laptop and it had that pretty dockable remote which was very handy and on the other side not ugly as those HP remotes.

I have even thought of buying one of the ugly ones to use with my TouchSmart, but have not checked if it would work, a friend has it.
