Thinkpad x230, Windows 7, 64 bit, 4 gb RAM, 128 gb ADATA mSATA (boot and programs), 500 gb spinner (documents)

I had the machine on and working along when I went out for an hour or so. When I came back there was a BSOD. Went to have the system self-check, one of the Lenovo add ons, and it said that:

    BOOT configuration is corrupt
    Error Code 0x490

Managed to boot from Mint 15 from a USB, everything in Mint is fine except the mSata drive does not show in System Configuration. I opened the computer to make sure that the mSata was firmly inserted, it is.

The mSata is under warranty but I am in China for three months, no warranty will not help me here (purchased in the US0

    My choices are:
    1) to keep running Mint from USB, kind of clunky
    2) install Lint on 500 gb spinner, I would need to partiton (I think that when I go to install it Mint will ask me to make a partition). What size partition should I give it ?
    3) Buy a new mSata here and reinstall Windows, this will give me an extra mSata once the warranty item is replaced AND being China, cannot be sure that I will not be getting a counterfeit drive.

I am leaning to 2), but looking for some other opinions.

One other matter, although almost of all my documents were on the spinner drive, and thus safe, I did save yesterdays work to the Desktop. Is there anyway to retrieve those documents??

    May thanks,
