Microsoft has officially released Service Pack 1 for Office 2010 (KB2460049).

32-bit and 64-bit editions are available for download, depending on what you have installed on your system.

    32-bit (x86) - CLICK HERE

    64-bit (x64) - CLICK HERE

For more information about this service pack, read these blog posts:

EDIT: You can also install this update through Windows Update if it is configured to check for all Microsoft products. This may result in shorter download and installation times.

EDIT 2: See this post for Office 2010 SP1 Language Packs (thanks fonduekid).

Nothing on TechNet yet. Neither the SP1 standalone installers nor the integrated O2010 iso are there.

There are at least two flavors (all with different KB numbers) of the SP1 installer available for 32 and 64 bit.

Unless you desperately need one of the fixes in SP1, I'd wait a week or two until the rest of the world finishes beta-testing this release.

Thanks, I'll get this installed later today. It is fairly large and I don't want to hog all the bandwidth here at work.

i'm downloading Office 2010 SP1 right now.... to see if it can break more stuff :)
Earlier today i discovered my Outlook's find/search function is semi-broken... after entering some keywords, it can only find the occurrences in the old emails/messages and not in the new emails... very strange... dunno if the new SP1 will make it better or worse, or what happened with the indexing or do I have to rebuild it, etc :)

Is this something I need to do manually or will automatic updates pick this up for me?

If you check your event log you'll see that the update caused a request for an index rebuild to be issued. So, your index was wiped clear and then rebuilt from scratch. During that rebuild phase your searches will have been incomplete, or even come up empty. Once the index is rebuilt, everything should be back to normal.

It's in Windows update, but you'll need to check it since it is not automatically selected.

Considering the size of the SP release, it might be more efficient to manually download the thing and then manually install it.

200-600Mb (Win7 SP1 is/was nearly a full gig!) is quite a chunk of data to pull through WUpdate.
