I cannot get this scan running on my windows laptop. Normally you click on it and it restarts your computer and scans it.

I did the powershell run as admin and enter those words on that line and then it still doesn't start. Anyone know the reason for this?

    General information.

OP got kicked out of tenforums for posting endless rants, not providing requested information, suspicion of using illegal software, never following advice etc.
Now tries again under different name.
    https://www.tenforums.com/antivirus...rosoft-defender-offline-scan-not-working.html

As paulyjustin on bleeping, lately requested (+ 2 reminders) to run Farbar and provide logs.
Of course never ran it & no logs.

    Great find!.

Even if he follows our advice and does a clean reinstall he'll get infected again and then make another thread about it

Have you ever considered I don't want to risk downloading more software that might have malware? Thus I wanted to know what legit software is out there is the best so I don't have to try a program like that? Is that not reasonable? I bought a new cheap windows computer a bit after this and just yesterday, I bought the kaspersky total subscription to scan my computer.

What do you mean suspicion of using illegal software? I have a copy of windows ten pro that is legit. Someone had mentioned if you post it, it isn't that private so that is why I didn't post it.

If I told you why I am extremely concerned right now on my computer, you would be beyond freaking out right now if it was you. I have some extremely important information in it which is why I do not want to clean reinstall it. Now had I done a macrieum reflect backup image on my computer, then none of this would be that big of a concern because I could clean reinstall it. You have no idea how desperate right now I am in my situation and the amount of stress I been in.

It must not be that big a deal since you have time to type out lengthy posts and responses here and elsewhere as opposed to actually following the advice and instructions that have been provided to you.

Have you ever considered I wanted to get multiple opinions from other people before I do anything? You ever got an opinion from few people only to find out there was probably another way to do something and then it's too late? Have you ever done things too impulsely and messed up? I want to take my time and make sure I have everything right before I do anything.

Yes it's a big deal. I would pay a lot of money right now if there was a way to confirm my machine is virus/malware/trojan free etc.

You should maybe consider practicing what you preach since you just went out and bought an antivirus program without following any of the other advice you've been given.

What was wrong with me buying an antivirus program and supposedly the best one out there? I don't mind using it later anyway. You telling me I wasted money doing that? Is there anything wrong with me buying that just to scan it to see if it finds anything? What I paid for that virus program is nothing compared to what I have to lose here on my computer.

I blocked this member some time ago because despite the curiously serious concerns, never seems to learn from the threads nor takes it upon himself/herself to do any cursury reading on the subject matter only to post another thread of basically the same nature just from another angle expecting all the answers and ultimately learning nothing in the process.

Well if you have nothing to say or want to block me, I'm fine with that. But having people keep making disparaging remarks is what I do not like.

Also because of this, this topic has went off topic. So anyone that found this thread looking for an answer will see a bunch of posters arguing over with each other. What good does that do?
