Okay, so I am having a slight problem with connecting my laptop to my HDTV trough a VGA cable.

A long time ago I tried connecting my 1080p tv to my laptop, and everything went fine. Well, then I tried changing the resolution to 720p on my HDTV which, apparently was unsupported by my HDTV. Now normally, the settings would revert after 15 seconds and you'd be back at the standard resolution on your HDTV, but in this case it didn't.

Strange thing is, when I use dual monitor view, the HDTV does display everything (either in clone or extended mode) but whenever I turn of my laptop screen and only want to use my HDTV, it sets the HDTV resolution back to 1280x720p which is unsupported and I can't see anything.

Is there anyway to reset the resolution of my HDTV to anything except 720p? Either trough somekind of programme or a file which might contain the settings of each unique screen?
