My 120 GB hard drive is partitioned in 2 parts: C: 80GB and D: 40GB. I want to merge them into one drive.

Is is possible, and if yes, how?

You'll have to delete both partitions and then create a new one. :)

I think you'll have to delete the smaller one & resize the C Drive.
If you want to keep your data, shrink D as much as possible & add that space to C, then transfer the files from D to C. Then delete D & add it to c

I've used Acronis True Image Home 11 and Disk Director to accomplish what you're trying to do via the steps described by Thomas.

As Thomas states, the most straight-forward is to copy everything off your D: drive, erase that partition, resize the C: partition so it takes up all of the space formerly occupied by the D: partition, then copy everything that was on the old D: partition onto the now-bigger C: partition. Keep in mind, if you have anything installed on the current D: partition, that installation will no longer work, so you would be better off uninstalling any installed apps on the current D: partition, and then reinstalling them on the newly expanded C: partition after you're done resizing it.

    No you don't!!!!

You need to copy the contents of the second partition to some other device, DVD's a external drive, whatever. Then delete the second partition. Then expand the first partition to span the entire drive. Finally copy your old second partition data back to the now expanded first portion. Voilà!
