I keep getting memory leaks when a lot of tabs in IE are opened or my notebook has been in hybenation mode for 2 or more days. When this happens the tabs goes blank and I cant open any. It happens way to much.
What can I do about this?

I see you asked about a lockup issue over a month ago with no success, is this still the same issue? Memory leaks can mean and or do so many things. Also in hibernation the system should have been transferred to the HDD for revival, or are you using something else?.

The simplest solutions can come from very minor changes in behavior of the user rather than having unrealistic expectations of a perfect world where computer technology is flawless.

Here are two options that should help:
    • Stop using hibernation (it's known to cause all sorts of stability issues... always has, and always will)
    • Use Chrome or Firefox browser instead of IE
No applause necessary, but feel free to send money if that helps.

Yeah but even without using hibernation I get but less often. It seems that when I close a tab my system still uses the memory that the page needed. With my older laptop (Vista) with only 3 GB and also IE, I never had this trouble and I could open as many tabs as I wanted. Everything is better with my current laptop so it doesn't make sense why I keep having this problem.

We all have personal preferences in browsers, but for the purpose of investigation have you checked with Firefox or Chrome to see if the same problem exists? If it doesn't you will know for sure IE is causing the problem, but if one or both of the alternatives have the same behavior it may not have anything to do with IE. As I mentioned, hibernation is known to cause issues and it may be the hibernation causing your problem. When it comes to sleep and hibernation problems, sometimes the only solution is to stop using those features.

Every computer I have owned (desktop and laptop) has had at least one or two minor issues resuming from sleep or hibernation, and sometimes severe issues. This can be caused by firmware, drivers, hardware conflicts and a combination of those things. Buggy drives and memory modules can have all sorts of problems with sleep and hibernation. Sometimes they work flawlessly under normal use and behave very badly when resuming from sleep or hibernation. This can be a very vexing thing to troubleshoot, and many years ago I decided using the "on" and "off" features of a computer produced consistently superior results and a more pleasant user experience in the absence of frustrating bugs.

I do not seem to have any sleep or hibernation issues so I can't speak to that. I have disabled as practice though hibernation to save disk space so my experience with it is limited as well.

IE has been my primary browser for years and have just recently started using FF. I can say IE is horrible for destroying objects even once fully exited. Memory garbage collection stinks as well. Problem too is addons such as flash that refuse to clear memory entirely. Then if you hadn't preloaded Java it will tend to leave a memory usage footprint. I think, now this is IMHO, that IE does a horrible job of sand boxing addons and keeping them as destructible daughter processes. I am sorry if that sound a bit technical to some but it just means that it can fully kill what it no longer is using.

Such issues happen to me when I lower the size of my pagefile thinking I am smarter than Windows....

Example: I have 64GB of RAM so I set my pagefile to 1GB fixed min/max.....

now if I start above 8 or 9 downloads in my Internet Download Manager and attempt to start the 10th download, it would freeze until one of the previous downloads is finished....I thought this was a problem with the download manager but when I set the pagefile back to default, this doesnt happen.......

Even though I have around 56GB of free RAM, it seems like Windows likes to use the pagefile always..

Can I ask you how much RAM you have and what is your pafegile (Virtual Memory) configuration?

I have 8 GB and I have always set it on pagefile options on automatic management.

    Hi.

Try this app, it was original created to manage Firefox memory leak, but it works for anything, I use it for games with memory leaks you can add as many apps as you like to it`s white-list.
