i installed service 2 beta from windows update and noticed that RAM usage jumped from 51% to 80%. i have 1* 2GB ddr3 on thinkpad t500.what could be the problem ? i am expecting 2GB ddr3 delivered sometime next week. but a 29% mem increase in a beta service pack is unacceptable

If you look in your taskmanager what is using the most RAM? Keep in mind you are using a BETA build. Finally, why have all that memory if you aren't going to use it fully?
-
Did you have superfetch disabled prior to installing the SP2 beta? If so, it's probably just the case that installing the SP2 beta re-enabled superfetch, which is not something to worry about.

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
People said in the SP2 Beta thread that SP2 uses more ram, which is supposed to make Vista run better.
-
i usually run a vm which is taking a performance hit if the OS takes away 81% of RAM.
superfetch is not disabled. i also have 8GB SDHC for Readyboost.
i left the laptop on for couple of hours and the usage came down to 56%.

yes sp2 is using more ram on a steady basis for me.. i dont honestly see any real performance differences with sp2 though... im hoping this changes as it gets closer to release but i doubt it.. i also run windows 7 on this as a dual boot and tbh i find myself using it a lot lately i like it..

I dare say all the extra ram is for the debug code in SP2 so that errors can be reported with greater detail than the release code will. Its not unusual for pre-release software to be running memory hungry debug code as it is not supposed to be used in a production environment.
Check in task manager to see where all the ram is going, if that is reporting high usage for the system cache then don't worry about it. -
almost everything i have tried has ran fine under windows 7

Get more RAM, stop with the readyboost bull garbage. RAM is cheap. I don't understand why you would run VMs with only 2 gigs of RAM total?
