Gidday guys
For some reason Windows Media Player does not want to play DVDs. I keep getting a message saying "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to shut down". DVDs will play fine with WINDVD and mpeg files play fine. The error is "MSAPP crash WMPLAYER.EXE" Anybody offer any ideas????
Regards to all
Forgot to mention, I have Vista Business, and Kaspersky AV, in case that has any effect. The odd thing is in the Kaspersky log, there is an entry "WMPLAYER.EXE has been changed" Seems suspicious.

When did this start?

Windows Media Player in Vista Home Basic and Vista Business does not have DVD decoding capabilities. Microsoft suggests that you buy the DVD decoders.

Can you not install something like k-lite codec pack?

If you are using x86 Vista Business, download this:
http://www.codecpackguide.com/klcodec.htm
If you are using the 64bit version, download this:

You should read this:

You might also want to google "vista business dvds". That's how I found that last link.
