Ok here is the deal I installed Alcohol 120%, restarted and everything was ok. I then installed Roxio Cd Suit 8 installed and it said to restart so I did and not after the window's XP logo, the screen goes blank. The only way for me to turn the laptop off is to take the battery out. Any ideas why this would happen just by installing that software?

Try it in safe mode. I bet that will work. If it does there is a driver conflict between Alcohol 120 and Roxio, or your Roxio install went bad. Uninstall Roxio in safe mode and then try to reinstall it. Make sure you have the newest of both Alcohol 120 and Roxio as they will likely have fixed any issues. If that doesn't work uninstall both in safe mode and then install Roxio first Alcohol 120 second.

this happened to me once on my desktop. The drive corrupted itself (was a known issue with the HDD manufacturer/model). It happened on a restart one day...worked one minute then didnt the next. If it doesn't boot up in safe mode then this is more than likely a similar issue however not all is lost. you can get an external enclosure and connect it to another computer and browse through your files and pull off anything that you require.

Try a system restore or boot into safe mode and uninstall the offending program

Alright I uninstalled Alcohol and everything went ok. I know that there is some problems with Daemon tools and 1210 but does it have a problem with every cd emulation software was my case unique?

After I uninsalled alcohol 120 windows booted and logged in but after I shut down and turned back on the same problem happened. SO I went back in safe mode to uninstall roxio but I get an error and it won't uninstall.

Sounds like your Roxio install was corrupted. Try booting into safe mode, deleting the files from your harddrive and using regedit to remove any registry entries and try to reinstall. Should save you from having to reformat.
