New software got rid of Outlook Express and now i am looking for a new e-mail client...

Any thoughts? Why MS got rid of it is beyond me but Live sucks as it doesnt clear out your account after you delete the file so you have to go to the site and delete/clear all the emails out after awhile.

I highly recommend Thunderbird as well. I used it for over a year and loved it, but switched to Outlook 2007 once I bought Office 2007 Ultimate.

Postbox is an excellent choice. I've played around with it and it's slick. I like the conversation view and search functionality. It's based on Thunderbird as well, so there's not a huge learning curve. It also, frankly, looks better than Thunderbird UI wise, although you can get themes for Thunderbird to dress it up a bit.

Alas, I now use Outlook 07, but that's just because I paid for it along with the other Office 07 apps as part of that "Ultimate Steal" promo. If i wasn't using Outlook, i'd be using Postbox.

How about outlook 2010 tech preview. It's free and it's a little bit better than outlook 2007.

If you are using Windows Live Mail for your Gmail account, your emails will stay on the server but that is not WL Mail's fault. Gmail keeps all of your mail until you specifically empty your trash. But with my other accounts, Live, Hotmail and a Caribsurf (Internet provider), the emails are deleted from the server unless specified otherwise in the settings.

I'm using Outlook 2007 - I have my mother and grandfather on Windows Live Mail.

If Live Mail isn't deleting your e-mails you may have not set a setting that way and allowed the software to leave a backup copy on the server...
