    LuckMC11,

Yes, that's completely doable. Below is the link from Microsoft that allows for Auto Logon. Just be careful when you use it as you will leave your system completely vulnerable. If anyone wanted to get into your system, they could by just turning it on (unless you have a BIOS password, but that's still bypassable).

Make sure you read carefully and verify your changes before accepting since it does modify your registry.

    Good Luck!

you're saying auto-login in as just it goes on by itself? cuz wont that be the same if you just took out the password before you login? i'm probably just confused.

I believe with XP, on initial install, if a password was left black for the admin, it would auto login, but after a password has been set, it will still propmt you to enter even though there's no password. Modiying this setting just re-enables that autologin feature/settings.

oh yea i also have a question about the login screen.

after i created a network for my pc to share its files so i can get it from my laptop, the login screen is different now. before it will prompt me for my password and all i have to do is type it in and press enter. now i have to click my name (which is the only 1 on that computer) and then type in the password and then press enter. is there a way to change it back to normal?

    Luck,

The link I provided with the instructions on how to enable Auto-Logon will only allow 1 account to auto-logon. Do the 2 users use the same account or do they have different accounts? The account you enable this option on will be the 1st account that always boots into when you power on the unit.

Is the screen generally still the same Windows XP Welcome Screen or is it a small box that lists Username & Password?

If it's the Welcome screen, but you have to choose your account, there's 2 possibilites on why it's like this:

    1. It's because you have 2 different accounts active. The Welcome screen will usually just require a password to be entered if there's only 1 active account. If you don't need this account, disable it in COntrol Panel and that should fix your problem.

    2. If you only have 1 account, and if you installed .NET Framework 1.1 from Windows update this will cause a slight account problem where you always have to select your username and enter password. An easy fix for this is to download the .NET Framework 1.1 update from the MS site and this will be fixed (I guess the original update had a bug in it).

But if you are getting the old login screen (Username on top & password on bottom), it's because your network login style was changed. If logging into a domain, this is the only screen that will work. If you're not, then it's also changable in the Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change The Way Users Log On or Off -> Put check in box beside Use The Welcome Screen and you're done.
