I just got it and there is no mention of the 64 bit version included. I don't want to open the shrink wrap just yet but wanted to know, doesn't it come with both the x32 and x64 version?

Unless you plan on creating/manipulating data files that are larger than 2GB, the 32-bit office might be a better install after all.

But to get back on topic, I don't think they come in both versions. But I'm not sure whether you can just call and order a 64-bit installer/discs and use the same key.

    Greetings,

Your key will work for either version, and the last I heard, both installers are on the DVD, and it should give you that option, but if doesn't, here is a way to get it. This will also work, for the Academic version that students got for 80 bucks, or lower, but choose the Pro. version instead.

At any rate, you can get it from Microsoft, but you have to do a little bit of work for it.

    Step 1:
    Office - Microsoft Office

    Step 2:

Click on Download Trial of your choice, or own and fill out all the information to get the trial version using your Windows Live ID. Unless, you have ordered from MS site yourself.

    Step 3:

When you get to the download page, and gives you no option? Go ahead, and click on "My Account" on top of the page, and Click on Download when it appears middle of the page.

    Step 4:

When that screen loads up, and asks you right under it "Advanded Options" and from there it should give you what installer you want, x86 or x64. Use your key.

    G'Luck,
    Ali

Both versions should be included, but note that there's 64-bit versions only for Word and Excel. Plus, for most people there is little to no benefit at all to the 64-bit version. Unless you know you need the 64-bit version, there is no reason to install it. For one, as of now there are no third-party add-ins that would work with the 64-bit versions.

Hmm sorry, but no guys, please read the manual. I don't blame you, it's confusing.

Office 2010 has BOTH 32 and 64-bit versions included in the same disk. The setup auto-detects your system and installs the appropriate version. Once installed, you will notice that if you open Word and look in the task manger you won't see "WORD.EXE * 32" (to mention that it's a 32-bit program), but instead "WORD.EXE".

No, 32 bit Office is installed by defualt (even on 64 bit OS). To install 64 bit Office, you have to go to the 64 bit directory in the CD and launch setup in that directory

Thanks for all the help guys. I didn't try the software's auto detect capabilities as far as which is 32 or 64 bit. I browsed to the "x64" folder on the disc and ran the setup program from there for my laptop. My laptop now has Office 2010 x64 :D.
