    Hello Experts,

I am facing a very weird issue with my laptop. I bought this Sony Vaio (Model - VPCEH25EN) around 6 months ago, and last month I encountered bad sectors on my hard-disk. Since my system was under warranty, the hard-disk was changed by Sony. However soon after I received it back, I started facing some very weird issues with it.

There are a few icons on my taskbar jump list for which some of the options are not working. e.g. on if I right click on Google Chrome icon on the task bar, and select "New Incognito Window", it just shows up some weird windows icon for a second on the taskbar and then it vanishes, and nothing happens. Similarly, if I right click on Skype icon and select quit, the same thing happens. It is happening for almost all the icons, but not for all options. It happens for only one or two options in the jump list. This is really annoying and I want this to be resolved. I know by experience that it will be a very small glitch. However I am not a Win 7 expert.

Has anyone encountered this issue? I have Win 7 Home Basic 64 bit edition installed. If you want, I can supply more information.

    Thanks for help in advance...

All I can think of is to run a repair on one of the programs, e.g. Chrome, and see if that fixes it. If so, then you might have to do the same for the other programs with the same issue. You can often run a repair from Control Panel Programs and Feature or by rerunning the program's installer, other times it will only offer the option to remove the program.

In that case, you may as well uninstall the program then reinstall it.

See here for a fix. In your case, you might want to just delete all of the files in the folders mentioned. In my own experience, Chrome may still have issues after doing this, and your best bet might be to reinstall Chrome right after deleting the jumplist files. Do not open Chrome after you have deleted the jumplists and before you have reinstalled it.
