I thought I read it was not possible to install Internet Explorer from Windows 7.

If I can uninstall it, what is the best way to do it?

Is it better to uninstall IE before upgrading to a new version of IE?

Don't quote me but I am pretty sure in Control Panel you can go to 'Add/Remove Programs' on the left-hand side bar you can click 'Turn Windows Features On or Off' then uncheck the box 'Internet Explorer' it'll say it's not recommended but go ahead anyway.

Hope I'm right and hope this helps. :)

Also it's not needed to uninstall IE like a regular program to simply update to another one. It's OEM Microsoft, software so you don't need to do anything except let it automatically make the amends and overwrite and change whatever it needs to upon update :)

Simply install IE9 RC over it and IE8 will be saved as a roll-back update but not active unless you uninstall IE9 RC. I was disappointed by the new release in a couple hours of use. But please feel free to try it, this is only my opinion, just leave a copy of IE8 to go back to in case you don't like it.

I'd keep a browser of any kind as a backup in case the new one doesn't work or you don't like it.
