I'm giving someone a laptop tomorrow (hp compaq nx9005) and i've installed XP and several programs on it aswell as changing some personal bits like the wallpaper (i put a happy birthday wallpaper on it as it's a birthday present)

what i want to know is can i possibly have the Windows XP Out of Box Experience set-up thing come on when she turns it on tomorrow so that it feels more like a new computer?

    thanks.

I've just read that i could have used sysprep to customize the system before hand but it's too late now, is there a setting i can change to have oobe come up now?

I found the OOBE executable for Vista in "C:\Windows\System32\oobe\msoobe.exe"

It might be the same location in XP.

Just running the executable starts the OOBE. I'm sure that someone here knows how to make a program run once on startup.

Yep, just put an entry in the runonce key in hklm/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion in the registry
