I'd like to use Chrome more often but it crashes a lot. It happens with all kinds of sites. Is this normal?

I have had a good experience with it so far.

It has some trouble working on some websites, where I need firefox for it to work.

Any particular conditions where it is crashing so it can be repeated?

I use Chrome 90% of the time except for times when certain sites don't support it (like TechNet Plus, my bank, school). Otherwise, I find the features simple and intuitive, and has yet to crash on me. I also like the built-in spell check.

Yeah its beta, cant expect too much from it.

Gmail took about 5 years to get out of beta testing.

So some people say it never crashes? that's weird. Mine has one tab crashing once almost every two hours.

Well I think that may have done the trick. I've been surfing for 15 minutes now, opening up many websites and sofar no crashes.

I had been using Chrome from the very first moment so it had been upgrading the install every time. It might have been cluttered up.

Also, this time I did not import any settings from Firefox.

Chrome seems stable now. Thanks qhn for the tip.

For your information, Google Chrome (stable release) is no longer beta, except for a beta release.

Chrome isn't beta, it's actually up to Chrome 2. Chrome 3.0 is in beta, however.

Phil, I'm not sure what could be causing the problems. Chrome has been great for me. I only use FF for school.

Well i removed it thoroughly yesterday with Revo uninstaller before installing it.

I might see if my aggressive undervolting settings have something to do with it. Or it might be the modded version of XP I'm running.

OS should not make any differences to Chrome, supposedly. Would it crash if you run Chrome by itself on this link?

Both would give the same crash.

But I found it out: it was the undervolting that was the problem. Rest of my system seemed stable, not Chrome.

With a little more voltage no more crashes. sofar.

What I fail to see, was why the (newegg) page search would crash at your undervolting. Have you tried some other pages and dig around the search to see if the same behaviour occurs?

    cheers ...

With the undervolting most agressive Chrome would crash at several web sites.

With a little more voltage it's stable.

    That's all I need to know :)

Since I set the voltage one step higher it's stable so I am satisfied.

I think it may be because my other apps are very light. Just Firefox, Wordpad and Irfanview.

If I would be running heavy stuff I'd probably notice it, I think.

Well, I guess the low voltage was the culprit. Chrome has yet to crash on me since I installed it back in May on my E4300.

How did you determine that it was the voltage?

It crashed all the time, then I raised the voltage one step then it didn't crash anymore. Then I put the voltage lower again and it started crashing again :)

I already had a feeling that my undervolting settings were too low. And I never performed any stress tests to ensure stability. Because if a system is stable to me, I don't care about stresstests. Turned out it wasn't stable to me.

I have been an avid user of Chrome and so far I only experienced one crash or restarting of Chrome because of some errors. I sought assistance regarding this recurring problem and referred me to download a unique free error repairer and cleaner called IOBit System Care and IOBit Security 360 that both fix browser crashes, errors, registry, antimalware, antispyware, anti-adware, anti-Trojan, anti-bots, and other related system malfunctions which may also be obtain through downloads of file transfers. IOBit does not create conflict with any anti-virus, it is actually the best mate you can pair up with your anti-virus.

Furthermore, IOBit offers a nice user-interface similar to NIS 2008 Internet Security. I say it's better. But having the two gives you the best of both worlds :)

    Try checking these sites:
    http://www.iobit.com/, http://www.techspot.com/downloads/3580-iobit-security-360.html
