    I decided not to, there are free versions of the pro features such as remote desktop.

    Short answer No, Unless you have a touch screen and want to constantly clean dirty finger prints or make scratches on your LCD constantly I wouldn't go with it. IMO But that will depend will you be touch screening constantly or mouse/keyboard if the later then stick with Windows7 that will serve you better. Laptop/Desktop aren't touchscreen nor anytime soon as the touch screen are expensive to get and repair should it fail. But That is my guess as I don't have a touch screen Laptop/Desktop and don't plan onto since Windows 7 more then work and benefits my business and home usage.

    And touchscreens tend to be reflective - producing glare. Nearly unusable in certain light.

    I bought it back when It was available for $40 bucks and I'd say that money was well spent after taking the time to get everything setup how I like it. (Startisback, etc)

    Things W8 pro has over W8 non-pro:

    Hyper V = VMware/Vbox
    BitLocker = TrueCrypt
    Remote Desktop = VNC Client
    Domain Joining = Nothing. Okay you got me there.

    But, in general, no.

    Worth the upgrade from Windows 7? Only if you have a touchscreen.

    Windows 7 is by far the much better choice unless you want to buy multiple monitors because you quickly find yourself punching the screen. :D

    You should try the preview version and decide, I like it, ignoring the new GUI ( metro or whatever).

    That is nearly impossible to do...in W8 it will revert back to Metro regardless what you do....so you basically can't ignore the metro it is basically right in your face.

    Yes, you are right, it'll be there but once I click the Desktop I don't bother with Metro :D

    I simply can't stand Windows 8. For gaming Windows 7 will suffice.

    Since I get it for free, using it with Start8 is better than Windows 7.

    Again...another misinformation why even use a start menu 3rd party if W8 is so good??? If so good just use it as it is. That statement gives so many reason to not even go to W8 but to stick to W7 should you want a real Desktop and start menu.

    Another false lead faster is in the eye of the beholder...one can't really see the marginal difference in everyday usage....put this way a W8 or W7 on the same computer with a SSD or HDD with i7 processors will perform and show almost the same results thus giving no real advantage to going W8 except in numbers game and that doesn't reflected the real everyday usage of computers. So that debate about faster then W7 is a mute point. And putting a 3rd party to get a start menu is just as much a waste of precious resources when W7 already comes with start menu and Desktop. How one can say W8 is so good or excellent but then say a second time to use Start8 to get a start menu is akin to being a catch 22 in itself. If W8 was so good as I stated before why are you going or using a program to get a start menu??? That logic flies in the mindset of using and having a good O/S to begin with and now having to mess with 3rd party software of which it should have and come with a Start menu and Desktop and from there one can Customize it but for the mass they want a computer to fire up and start using not have to go what do I have to go back to elementary school just to learn how to use it.
