I am thinking about ditching Opera because it does not work on some college sites and anything that involves money or applications.

    No Internet Explorer!

    So far my choices

    Firefox and Chrome

    questions

is Chrome out of Beta and is it secure
    I like speed
    Which has more compatibility
I use Gmail so does Chrome have intagration
Speed Dial like on Opera would be nice to have as well as a side bar
spell check (my spelling is really bad and always will be)
    Takes few recources
    Uses tabs not windows
    pleasing to the eyes
can use the search box in NBR (Opera 9.63 can not right now)

What are your thoughts? And please dont just say one or the other but say reasons!!

    Thank you

Yes, Chrome is out of BETA, though many would argue, it should still be in BETA. They are both fast, Chrome with Java V8 and FF with Tracemonkey.
Chrome is made by Google, gmail is a google app...of course it works.
Many add-ons for Firefox similiar to speed dial, chrome has a most used speed dial interface. they both spell check. resource wise is dependent on how you use it. both uses tabs, both pleasing to the eyes, FF can be tweaked alot more due to add ons. i use both, FF is my primary since i cant live without its addons. chrome may be in the future, but not right now.

Just go with both, Use them and youll eventually start using one more then the other. Chrome IMHO is a great browser with a ton of potential, but I still primarily use FF.

AS far as stability Chrome has never given me any issues, it is clean and fast. Firefox is as well but if your like me, the addons for Firefox are must have.

Chrome is very good and is now out of beta. There should be some add-ons you can get to mimic some things that Opera had.

Firefox 3 is good also, but to me it has gotten rather "fat".

I know that you said "no Internet Explorer" but have you given Internet Explorer 8 a go? It's still in beta, but it's quite good none-the-less.

Edit: Also there is Maxthon but I believe it uses IE in the background.

There is currently no add-on support for Chrome by Google.

Chrome may or may not. I've never encountered such a page, same with Firefox. Pages render more correctly as opposed to Opera.

You should be able to run as many browsers as you want to run. Even simultaneously. The only caveat is that sometimes a pre-release version will cause problems for the GA version if you try to install them both.

Up until a week ago or so I had Opera, IE7, and Firefox 3 installed. I have since uninstalled Opera, but not due to any conflicts. I have never installed Chrome.

Not sure about Chrome, but FF does have problems with certain sites.

I use FF, but IE definitely has the highest compatibility for most websites.

FF has some websites it cant use. Of course, thats where the IE Tab Add-on comes in handy.

But, I havent had ONE website not work in chrome. I belive its compatable with everything, like IE.

It doesnt have any add-ons yet, but you can get some basic themes for it. Its faster than FF, and uses less resources. FF has a slow startup time, chrome is up in an instant.

Chrome and IE do not render all the exact pages the same. Chrome is on webkit which is what Safari uses. Latest test of 3.1beta and chrome, ff was faster by the slimmest of margins, so I count them as the same in speed. Chrome doesn't use less resources...chrome makes each tab a individual process which adds up if you have a lot of tabs open. I agree with the load up time though.

Chrome and FF3 are both great choices. Though, Chrome does display much faster start-up speed.

When it comes to surfing, both are lightning fast, and accurate. Much better than IE.

I've never encountered a site either. Stewie, no one goes and searches for sites that don't render correctly lol ;p
For what I use my browser for every day use, everything is good.
