    Hello

I'm having problems with IE Version6. I want to uninstall it but it doesn't seem to be included in the Add and Remove Software list.

From where can I uninstall it? I want it to completely remove it and then re install it...

Is there any site from where I can download IE V.6. Microsoft doesn t have it, instead it has the V.7 Beta.

Use your Windows OS disk to reinstall it.

Try Windows components on the left side of the add/remove box.

I did the IE uninsatallation from the Add and Remove Windows Components. But it is still there...Just the Desktop icon disappeared...the folder is still there and IE can also be launched..

I want to delete it completely...

If I remember correctly, I think it may be impossible to uninstall IE completely.

I don't believe you can remove the core IE v 4.0 because it is integrated in most things involved with Windows. Meaning if you do find a way to uninstall, you may not like the results. I would say just do as titanium said and use your OS disk to reinstall/repair.

Not sure where you can find the 6 version but have you tried Firefox or Opera as a browser? If not, I'd think you'd be much happier with FF and then just use IE to update windows. Saves headaches and may cut off future problems that you can encounter with IE.

Yes currently I'm using FF. And now I'm getting used to it :D

What do you mean using IE to update Windows?

    Thanks for the help!

You cannot use anything else but IE to run windowsupdate. I haven't had any success uninstalling IE6, nor did reinstalling help. I advice against deleting the IE folder in Program Files because whatever you do after that you might have (as I did) a damanged IE, which cannot run properly. In this case my only solution was a new OS setup.

Just FYI, many programs require a working Internet Explorer. You may not encounter any soon, but IE is pretty necessary on Windows machines.

I, however, hardly ever use it; and have installed v7.0b. If you want, you can try installing IE7, and see if that improves things.

you cannot completely remove IE because it is integrated into the system.
