Those are only the driver. You must right click on your controller in device manager then selecet update driver and locate the folder you downloaded.

Well, I have the nForce chipset so it looks like this for me (picture)

Must be something very like but only with Intel insted of nForce..

Also, just as I note, if you have nvidia chipset, you should not use it.

    Thanks for the tip, maximinimaus.

I did the trick here, but what is this driver update suppose to improve? I haven't seen any info on the page you linked.

It contains support for the Z68 chipset and is needed for the SSD Caching(Intel(R) Smart Response Technology).

Don't forget that to make damned sure that newer Intel device drivers load up properly, you should also and FIRST!) load up the more recent Intel chipset drivers/inf updates.

You have to extract files, then go into device manager and manually update them.

Or you invoke the STOR_allOS_10.5.0.1026_PC.exe. That installs also the Console(GUI).

    Hi,

I have SATA Scorpio Black and noticed Intel has not updated their Rapid Storage driver for mobile chipsets since late 2010.

I take it as okay to use the Desktop version of Intel Rapid Storage driver for mobile laptop chipset including the Sandy Bridge chipsets?

Are there any bugs or glitches when used with a laptop chipset?

    Thanks,

Yes. I just read about it in the german computer magazine c't issue 12.
If you like to google I'm pretty sure you'll find more sources.
Z68, available at the moment only to desktop chipsets, is at the moment the only chipset which supports this, but who knows in the future?
