When I install Intel Chipset Software 9.4.0.1017 or 9.4.0.1027, I notice that many of the system devices under device manager now have the right name like Intel 8 /C220 Series PCI Express Root Port and if I right click and go to the drive details, I see the version of the Intel Chipset Software I installed.

Now even on a clean Windows install, if I install Intel Chipset Software v10.xx, only one device gets a driver update which is the HM87 LPC Controller, the rest of the components all would have the default Windows driver 6.5 or something like that

I also tried installing it using the -overall command but it didn't make a difference

    What gives?

ohh ok, sorry didn't get what you meant at first.

Just found out that the Intel Chipset Software v10 and above are designed for the Broadwell Chipsets in mind because when I went to the ASUS Driver download section / Chipset. If you try to download the 10.x driver it mentions BROADWELL in the file name:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Chipset

Hey dude, this thread is a little old but I've ran into the same thing with the version 10 INFs (10.0.0.xx), even when using the -overall parameter on the installer, it seems to do hardly anything. The version 10 INFs have been out since well before the Broadwell architecture was on market (at least since mid-2014, if not a few months earlier), and still updated nearly nothing on my Haswell based G750.

I stick to 9.4.0.1027, using -overall and it seems to update EVERYTHING chipset related in the device manager. It's a satisfying feeling... Haha.

Me too I'm sticking to that version it doesn't feel right that it doesn't install anything and the setup finishes almost instantly and doesnt even ask you to reboot. What's even more strange is that Dell has listed this driver under all new Alienware laptops, heck if I know if they even check for these things like us Pro's but I doubt it
