    I read somewhere about some software that moniters and alters the processor usage to conserve battery power, and vice-versa. I'm wondering if a program like this would be good for me. Also any other system optimization utilities that you could recomend would be great. Thanks.

    NHC is a great program to control various things on your computer.

    Dell includes a quickset utility, but I find it to be a bit lacking.

    I8KFanGUI is another good program if you want to control fan speeds.
