    In order to an upgrade clean install , do I boot to the CD or into Windows?

    I thought you boot directly to the CD. But on the Sony help site, it says to boot into Windows and then run the CD from there.

    The manufacturer of the device always knows best so follow their advice but you can boot and install Windows 7 Upgrade from the DVD.

    The reason they are probably advising you to do the upgrade in Windows is to take advantage of the drivers already on the system. For the most part Windows 7 is built from Vista and i've found that some of the Vista drivers will work with Windows 7.

    Only difference is that if you boot into Windows first, it creates a Windows.old folder on your new desktop containing your old files.
